Research And Grant Support
The University of Pittsburgh Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), in cooperation with the Office of Research, provides support to University researchers and principal investigators in completing grant-proposal documents requiring information/certification of University Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures. Examples of such grant agencies are the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Energy, American Lung Society, and the American Heart Association.
Specifically, the Director of EH&S must complete the Memorandum of Environmental and Safety Analysis (MESA), Certificate of Environmental Compliance, Facility Safety Plans (FSP), and the associated documentation that are often required by these federal or grant agencies. EH&S also provides consultation and site visits to promote compliance with the EH&S conditions of the grant.
The purpose of this page is to provide University researchers with clear guidelines for the successful and timely completion of these documents by EH&S.
